Kofta

Spiced meatballs from South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, made from ground beef, lamb, or chicken mixed with onions, garlic, ginger, and warm spices. The word comes from the Persian kufta meaning to pound. In India and Pakistan, kofta are typically simmered directly in a curry sauce rather than browned first, producing an exceptionally tender meatball.
